it takes a week of condensation to make a single raindrop

Berlin, October 2017

A recent headline revealed
most museum
taxidermy animals
are male

for rationalized reasons:
males are showy
and larger in size,
making them a desired hunt.

I liked that tension.
Centuries of oppressive
gendered observations
shifted towards vulnerability.

Now valued as mere objects,
captured in timeless poses,
and subjectified to a curated gaze
they perform phantom resurrections.

Silenced into history,
an obvious and lazied pattern
of wounded grandeur,
in short—a preserved reverie.
